Dark Chocolates and Mint, Anyone?

My latest gem in my (ever growing) collection of lip balms is one that is just wonderfully minty AND chocolatey. And not just ANY chocolate - Dark Chocolate. I kid you not.

This little tube of Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Butter with Vitamin E (on top of their delicious flavours) promises to soften and soothe those lushious lips. AND give you a subtle gloss. Gee, they sure promise a lot.

But do they deliver! And just how did I find such a gem? Read on to find out!

If you ladies MUST know, it started with a self-invitation (*tee hee hee*) to stay over at Kahani's the moment she touched down (I think I've announced her return enough times now). =P

One reason why I love her place so much is because staying over usually means I get to play with skincare and makeup galore! Her room is like the makeup equivalent of a candy store (mine's getting there too)!

So when it was time to get ready for bed, I was looking around for her Vaseline (didn't bring mine coz well, she HAS one. Or two.) but simply could not find it. Even Kahani resigned to: "Oh, it's here SOMEWHERE."

And then I spotted this tube of balm sitting atop her pretty little makeup arsenal, and I thought, "Oh well, let's give it a go." And lo' and behold. The moment I applied it on my lips, I. Could. Not. Stop. Sniffing. It smelled DELICIOUS. It felt like I was in a chocolate confectionary. Really!

True to being a balm, it kept my lips balmy and moisturised all night even in the dry air-cond room. And as law of makeup addiction dictates, I had to get one for myself. And so I did. At RM12.70 a pop for 10gm, it's not too bad as prices go.

The choc scent doesn't linger on too long though. Boo for those who love the chocolatey scent, but yay for those who may not be too keen on it. But then, if you're not a choc person, err.. why get this in the first place, right?

Ingredients include petrolatum, theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, tocopheryl acetate, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil and flavour.

Use it on its own, or apply it under or over lipstick, if you wish.

So, anyone for second helpings? =)

I have never seen this (maybe I am not looking hard enough). Isn't the chocolate flavor too overpowering? I find that scented stuffs at the start makes me happy, but after daily usage, I tend to have those days that "i don't feel like tasting or smelling it" ...this product isn't that way right?

Andrea: Look at the bottom of all the lipbalm sections in Guardian & Watsons. I usually find it there, close to the ground =)

Nikki: Believe me, I usually loathe chocolate scented lip balms because it makes me nauseous after awhile. This one however is quite faint, and the chocolate is a dark bitter chocolate, not a sweet cloying scent. Plus the peppermint is more like menthol. Meaning, you get the fresh tingling without any sweet pepperminty-ness. It's worth a try if you're looking for a moisturising gloss. I also like to use it to top Bobbi Brown's glosses because I TRULY hate the taste of those things.

Thanks Kahani for clarifying that, i hate it when the scent is too strong and there are just days you don't feel like it!

nikki: That's why I have a range of scented balms. ;) Somedays I like raspberry, some days dark chocolate, sometimes mint....

Andrea: I saw another flavour on their site, Dark Choc and Cherry. But I don't know if we have here in Malaysia. Don't remember seeing it, but will keep an eye out. Will update you girls if I do find it! =P

Nikki: As mentioned in the post, this one smells heavenly when you first apply, but after only a few minutes the smell disappears already. So no, don't think it's one of those nauseous smelling ones. =)

Hope you girls will try it!

syen: Dark choc and cherry? Mmmm... I was addicted to this Aussie candy bar that was dark choc wrapped around cherries...must... buy...!

Andrea: They also have palmers cocoa butter stick lipbalm. THIS is very milk-choc scented and is a balm without gloss. Some girls adore it. I find myself allergic to it for some reason. It makes my lips itch =(
