Storage options now that my makeup collection has exploded. Kinda.

Because now I can't fit all of it into my dresser anymore. Well... it's definitely expanded.

Which is both good and bad news. *winks*

Lately I've been rather obsessed with checking out my options of extra storage space. To start things of, my dresser looks somewhat similar to this one here. It's got a big mirror with three lovely deep drawers, which are filled. Eek!

However, I will be moving homes in about a year (I think) so I might be changing my dresser altogether. I have not decided on that yet.

Bearing these in mind, here are the options.

1. Ikea Alex - It's slim and tall and has NINE drawers of space to fill. Being slim means it takes up less floor space too.

2. Ikea Helmer - I love that these are compact, and yet the drawers are decently sized in terms of depth. I also like that they have wheelies, and can be easily tucked away into a corner if you don't want it in the way.

3. Plastic drawers - Bearing in mind I will be moving in a year (or less), these might be cheapest temporary solutions?

Any thoughts? Or have you got an even better idea? Share!

I was going to pick up the Alex (Is it called that? I thought it was something else) but they were out of stock for a long time. I think its a good option, as well as the other similar one from the same family but low and wide and you can attach wheels.

I considered the Helmer but will pass. It feels too industrial and flimsy. The drawers will be liable to stick like they do in metal filing cabinets and I don't like that metal on metal sound :P

My suggestion since you are moving soon, is to stick it out :P Then get something done up in your new place or you'd end up with a lot of useless containers. I'm planning to do the same :P

Agree with PB!!! But gosh, those drawers are gorgeous! If there comes a time I need to purchase one too, I'll probably ask the same question!

I'm a huge fan of makeup organisation, but unfortunately have little advice to offer since most of my makeup lives in cupboards atm! I can't wait to see what you come up with tho :)

hey, the first one is called 'Alex'! if that's not a sign, I dunno wat is.. ;) but names aside, I'd go with PB's suggestion and stick it out since you're gonna be moving soon.. :D

I loved the Alex too! But its not practical for me since i live in a dusty area! :(

I really liked the Hemnes chest of 6 drawers though - feels really solid! :)

I agree with the girls... stick it out first! :D

Hello my lovelies!

I'm trying very hard but seriously, the Helmer is calling out my name! Eek. Especially seeing how popular it is on makeup blogs.

The Alex (while incredibly coincidental *hehe*) is a little pricey at RM469 doesn't exactly qualify for a casual buy. And I don't like the idea that lizards can easily stroll in.

The Helmer, however, at only RM139 still seems "splurgeable"?

Paris: I don't really mind the way the Helmer looks online, but I haven't met it in person so it's hard to say. Haha.. Also, you're moving too? =P
