Monday's Beauty Bits

Here's a crazy tip Connie from SkinDeco fed me today at PrettyB's wedding lunch: KY Jelly is a great moisturiser for oily, pimple-prone skin. Some googling (to make sure she isn't pulling my leg) turns up this thread in a forum. Lord help me I'm tempted. I don't suppose any of you have tried this yet and do you think I should?

Another less unusual and very old fashioned treatment I came across online recently is lemon juice to help with oily, acne prone skin. It also lightens pigmentation. I was surprised at the high ratings on makeup alley. Easily available and I love the scent. I think I'll give this a try! My skin is an awful place right now and I honestly think it can't hurt. I think.

Does anyone know where I can buy a hair sock bun? I'm dying to try this hairstyle out. I know you can make one out of rolled up stockings but I'm honestly not that keen! I'd like to try the real thing out first before I give substitutes a go.

Looking to buy Urban Decay products in deprived Malaysia? I believe Yaya's blogshop does occasional UD hauls. The latest one is just over but check it out and see if you think it's worth a try. I merely came across the shop on A Shopaholics Den and haven't tried it out so I can't recommend it personally.

I think I stopped being shocked at the "multi-use" purpose of unconventional products from the time I read about Monistat being a good primer or using hemorrhoid cream to get rid of under-eye bags...so go with the flow, I say :D

The hair sock bun hairstyle sounds really interesting, but Youtube's not letting me watch the video - something about a "malformed video id"...

Good luck with the lemon juice treatment, but do take care when you go out in the sun, as this can increase photo sensitivity (you probably already know this, but just throwing it out there).

Argh thanks Gypsy, have corrected the link. Good advice on the Lemon Juice, I should have mentioned it in the beauty bits.

Hey Kahani!

My mum has minor pigmentation problems and uses lemon juice - it works wonders, but it really does make you sun-sensitive!

I personally feel lemon juice is too strong going direct on the skin plus the problems with photo sensitivity that will actually cause more pigmentation problems if no sunscreen is applied. So, for once I'm not going to advocate this diy treatment :)

Credit for the KY Jelly tip goes to SCforM.com
He's an awesome blogger. I think you'll find his posts useful!

Undercover Gypsy: Hemorrhoid cream for eye bags? seriously? *feels hopeful*
monistat IS a really good face primer! I'm using it :)

Hey Connie! Yep - who ever said beauty isn't bizarre, huh?! But I personally don't recommend it, since, well, the under eye area isn't anywhere close to where hemorrhoid cream is used.... *shudder*
Now I'm off to order Monistat... :D

Hi -- I'm a longtime reader, first time leaving a comment ... I found something like a sock bun on eBay, but since I'm a Singaporean here's a Singaporean link ...
