Don't Knock It til You've Tried It: The Italy Towel

If you thought that today's post has me raving about some ultra-soft cashmere towel, think again. The Italy towel is a piece of synthetic cloth which looks so unglamorous and ugly, you wonder what the hype is all about.

I haven't the faintest idea how the Italy towel came by it's name but I do know that (1) it's a Korean thing, (2) it's used for sloughing off dead skin cells, and (3) it works pretty damn well.

The Italy towel is pretty easy to use. Just have a hot shower (that will loosen up the dead skin cells) start scrubbing away! Italy towels have two sides: one being rougher than the other, so just pick the side which you are more comfortable with.

No soap required. If you find it a bit too abrasive, squirt some shower gel and use it like a sponge.

If you wish to use the Italy towel Korean-style, have a shower before hitting the sauna. Once you start sweating in there, whip out the towel and start rubbing away! If you haven't exfoliated in a while, you will find your dead skin rolling up together like eraser leavings.

Apparently Italy towels come in 3 types: pink, yellow and green. Pink is the "softest" (still felt pretty damn hard to me) with green being the coarsest.

I bought my current Italy towel (yellow) from a Korean shop in KL for about RM 8 - RM 9. If you are keen on giving this a whirl, check out your nearest Korean grocery or you can order one in from Ebay.

Verdict? It works, it's cheap and saves me one less bottle especially I am traveling. The Italy towel is a keeper in my books.

LOL at PB's comment - I actually went to look for that word! would've been hilarious if it really had been "dad", but now you've piqued my curiosity! if only I knew what the heck it looked like...hmm...

Arrrgh, I am so sorry! Had to leave for a trip in a rush and didn't realise that I didn't upload a pic. Pretty ugly, isn't it?

PB: Did I mispell it? Not entirely sure as Syen or Kahani might have corrected it for me while I was away. Hee.

if i dont mistaken, the reason is called Italy Towel is bcoz the person who invented this towel want this towel sounds like a luxurious stuff,so he put Italy? its really really long time ago this towel were invented...its amazing that this towel already appear a long time ago n its sad that we know about it jz now..i know about this towel a few years ago T-T
but this seriously work! after hot shower, use this to scrub body n after the bath, the skin will be red a bit but thats ok,bcoz it will disappear n ur skin will become soft like a baby skin <3
if u dont hav hot shower at home, can use cold one too but take it a bit longer so the skin will become soft
