Review: Biore Cleansing Oil

I forgot to pack my eye-makeup remover during a work trip some time back. My colleague had forgot hers as well so we rushed into the nearest pharmacy once our meeting was over.

As the brands I usually use were out of stock, I found myself looking at a purple bottle of Biore cleansing oil. Sure, I have read good reviews about it but cleansing oils and I are a bad mix. The few I have tried resulted in either milia or clogged pores so I was quite doubtful if this would work for me.

Desperate times result in foolish decisions so I bought it.

It took a few tries for me to get the hang of using this. Pump 2 to 3 times, apply to face and massage gently to get rid of makeup. After 2 minutes or so, slowly add water bit by bit to emulsify -- the oil turns a milky purple at this point -- before rinsing your face.

The Biore cleansing oil does a decent job at melting off my makeup and most of my mascara but I still prefer using a separate eye makeup remover. The oil stings whenever it happens to enter my eye and I feel as if my eye area isn't really clean.

As with all oil cleansers, this left me with a cluster of oil seeds on my forehead and jawline. Ick.

No more experimenting with oil cleaners.

Other than clogged skin, my biggest gripe with this oil cleanser is that it leaves my skin feeling tight and dry. A rather odd observation as it also leaves behind a film of oily residue. I find myself washing my face twice with Cetaphil to get rid of the oily feeling.

The Biore oil cleanser has now been relegated to cleaning excess makeup off my hand -- I usually use the back of my left hand as a palette to warm up concealers or dust off excess powder, blush, gel liners, etc before application. I guess there is a use for everything.

The Biore cleansing oil retails at around RM 27 (I forgot the exact price) and can be found at most leading pharmacies.

Have you used it and liked it? Or was it a disaster for you too?

only used once....and to my surprise, got oil seeds on my forehead and cheek a day or 2days after! I was hoping that it would be suitable on my skin...cos it doesnt feel oily at all on the face. felt fresh and clean. sigh too bad... will use the remaining to clean the window lol. (clean the neck la sigh)
