Cheapie Sinma Spin Pins (Magic Scroos?) vs Goody Spin Pins

Well ladies, I'm back from Malaysia and I found them! Thanks to everyone who told me where they spotted them. I'm darned sure they'rein Hong Kong but for the life of me I've never spotted them. I picked up a few pairs of the plain ones for RM2.50 and...

A pair of the sparkly ones for RM6.50. They're a wee bit tacky but I was curious and they don't look bad in the hair at all. The pearl topped ones though were indeed way way tacky (you're so right Plue!).

Now for the question at the crux of all this... how does it compare with THE Goody Spin Pin?

There are differences. For one thing, these are about a CM shorter and have a slightly smaller diameter. I do find this means I have to twirl my hair a little more tightly and they don't seem to work as easily first go. But I can use them to make smaller buns (like in this style perhaps?) as they won't stick out the other end. I haven't tried it yet, but I will!

While the ends are rounded and not sharp (thank goodness) the finish on the cheaper ones are a glossy vinyl while the Goody pins are finished in a matte burnished metal. The difference? The cheap ones SQUEAK when twisted into my hair. I'm not sure if that's a good thing but it's annoying!
The verdict? I'm still glad I bought the cheaper ones as they work and I don't feel as nervous about just popping them into a handbag to put my hair up later. But for regular use - and if I leave the house with my hair already up, it's the Goody Spin Pins for me. I've even bought more gorgeous flowers to put in my hair when it's up in a twisty bun thing.

Will look out for a chance to buy a backup pair of the regular sized ones. I have a box of minis waiting for me in Milan! =D

To see how I use the spin pins, go here!

I bought the plain ones from Sinma yesterday! But I don't know if I'm doing it right or not, the tail ends of my hair keeps on sticking out like a broom... :(

kuri: They're definitely a must-have for me now.

nikki: You're a lucky girl, I've heard Goody's available in the Philippines!

Rinnah: I roll it into a bun then I loosen it a little and pull hair for the right over to tuck it in - a little like a french twist. I may have to do a video to explain it, but I'm not sure how easy it is to see...

@Kahani : I get what you mean - just tried it out again and it works beautifully. No more broom ends! Yay! I plan to do my hair up like this to go to work in SG. Hehe. :)

May I know where did you buy the Goody spin pins? I'm from Malaysia and I'm thinking of buying them! :) But if it's not available here, guess I'll get the sinma ones. Thanks!

Hi Linggg, I picked them up in Shanghai - and not all the Watsons there carry it either. Sorry dear but the ones from Sinma are an acceptable compromise.
