My Makeup Bag: Work and Uni Edition

Compare and contrast, girls: The life of a working professional versus the life of a Masters student, illustrated through the contents of her makeup bag.

Yes, that is an RM5 pouch from Daiso. I purposely picked a small bag to keep me from carrying too much around the place. As it is, this little guy can carry a surprising amount of stuff!

Last year, you probably would have seen the following in my bag: Powder foundation, an Ecotools kabuki travel brush, lipgloss, a perfume atomiser and a few lipsticks.

I am a huge fan of Poppy King so it is no surprise that I have two of her products here. The lipgloss is from her collaboration with No. 7 which I have previously mentioned before. Allure is the only gloss I use nowadays as it is a perfect colour on my lips. Happily, it isn't limited edition and I urge all UK readers to please check this out.

I also usually carry a Saint Rust wherever I go. Yes, that rubberised tube is starting to look a little gross and tacky but I am just going to quote Saint-Exupery and say that "what is essential is invisible to the eye." The lippie inside is still good to go.

Revlon Colourburst in Raspberry is still one of my favourite staples. I still wish that the staying power was better and that it would stop doing a Leaning Tower of Pisa on me. The shade is gorgeous though and I usually wear this layered with Chanel's Rouge Coco Shine in Bonheur on top as it really amps up the dark purple-red-berry tones. I LOVE the effect and I get heaps of compliments Every Single Time.

This year, you see the following: sunscreen, hand cream, Pawpaw ointment and a Clinique Chubby Stick in Whole Lotta Honey. It is a complete 180 degree turn from what I used to tote around but hey, at least I have a Chubby Stick for some semblance of glam!

Sunscreen is an absolute must in Australia, even on cloudy days. What with the whole debate on what is and isn't safe in sunscreen, I decided to play safe and get baby sunscreen. After all, baby products usually contain the least damaging ingredients.

I didn't carry hand cream around until this year when my hands suddenly got really dry. I nipped into Priceline to see what travel-sized products they had and grabbed some Palmers Shea Butter hand cream. It is really thick but it soaks in quite quickly and the scent is quite pleasant. Especially after using a stinky loo or when you are an hour into a boring lecture and need something to wake you up.

Pawpaw ointment! I am still using tried and trusted Lucas Papaw Ointment but my lips are still drying out like crazy. There are so many other pawpaw ointments out there, I am going to switch as soon as I am done with this tube. The Chubby Stick does a better job at moisturising.

I nearly forgot about the Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter at the bottom. That is Fig Jam right there and I will be eternally grateful to Syen for convincing me to get it in Malaysia as the Lip Butter collection has yet to touch Australian shores.

Syen: Lanolips now has a Lemon-Aid flavour. Want?

Deebs: I found it in Daiso for RM5! The quality isn't all that great -- aluminium casing and the glass vial seems a little fragile -- but it is a lot more hardy than it looks.

Eli: Me thinks Kahani might be more interested in the lemon flavoured lanolips. =P
