It was while looking for some way of buying dry shampoo in Hong Kong that I came across elusive mentions of Fanda Pharmacy on expat forums. A pharmacy where you could buy not only Batiste dry shampoo, but shampoo of all kinds, makeup, and skincare brands you couldn't find anywhere else. Posts also promised a great pharmacy with well-trained staff who could speak both English and Mandarin.
If you're as familiar with drugstore shopping in Hong Kong as I am by now? You'll think it's valhalla.
I found out there were (likely) two outlets. One, right near my office in Central and the other in Tsim Tsa Tsui.
Read on for my mini-haul:
Another brand I picked up was cheap and cheerful Freeman's. Both the clay mask with mint & lemon and the Grapefruit scrub have great reviews online and only cost HKD30 apiece. I've already tried the clay mask and think it'll be great for days when I don't want all the hassle of Himalay Herbal's Neem Face Mask, but could use a little help with congestion.
I haven't made a thorough comparison myself, but I've heard that prices at Fanda can be lower than anywhere else too. ^_^
To look at, Fanda looks like an old-school pharmacy I'd never walk into. Thank God for Google, huh?
wow, sounds amazing! Will have to drop by when I'm in HK.
ReplyDeleteYou're taking me there when I do visit right? =)
ReplyDeleteIts such a shame because I've been in Hong Kong many times but NEVER visited this store! thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteOh where was this post when I went to HK a couple of years ago? Jk.... :-) this is pretty useful, I find that when it comes to drugstores, HK is very unreliable, even when it comes to common ones like Watson's and Mannings. Each store is almost completely different from each other. Very hard to track certain brands down. Anyway, thanks so much for your HK posts, keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeletei have never seen this when i was there. not when i was in Central nor in Tsim Tsa Tsui. Grrrr.
ReplyDeletenext trip!!!
More post on HK's cosmetic please! I never know where to go or what to get when I'm in HK. The only places I go are SaSa and Color Mix, and to be honest I think they sell the same things. =\
ReplyDeletePlease more post!
i heart freeman's :) glad you finally found a place where you can buy your items.
ReplyDeleteWell girls, I'm really not sure how much fun Fanda is for non-locals. Bonjour for example is way more fun for touristy shopping. But I did notice a few brands in Fanda not available in Msia so who knows? =D
ReplyDeleteFay: I know I've said this before, but you totally have to hit Bonjour. Will keep posting! Did you see the article on HK beauty shopping?
Babe...Do you know any shops selling Bioderma in HK..
ReplyDeletePearlyButterfly: Quite a few do actually. If you're looking just for the cleansers you can fin them in Colourmix, some Sasas, Angel and some Bonjours (on discount). If you want the full range I've spotted counters at Mannings Plus outlets and they have standalone outlets in some malls (check!)as well.
ReplyDeleteYou can also buy Bioderma in Mannings. And about the Batiste Dry Shampoo, yes, you can get it in Fanda's but its no longer HKD$39, its HKD$48 now.
