Simple Cleansing wipes, YOU'RE DUMPED

Ah, the trusty green packet which a staple of so many bedsides and travel kits. Well guess what? It's taken me years, YEARS, and I feel absolutely brick-red embarrassed foolish that it took me so long to realise...

They break me out.

Oh yes they do.

For years I've thought that I was being great to my skin by using these gentle wipes to take off all my makeup while on long-haul flights. I'd use them, go through my usual night-time skin routine, and sigh the next day at the bad breakout I'd suffer.

Until Cannes, I sincerely and honestly thought that I broke out because of the stress of travelling. Not these wipes. Because, hey, it MUST be better to use these to take my makeup off than to just leave all of that foundation on for 13 hours, right? Right?

Wrong!
You see, I've come to trust my foundations. Silicone-free, with purifying elements such as Kaolin Clay. I wear them all day, everyday, in hot humid weather and they don't break me out. Why should they suddenly turn evil on my in a dry antiseptic environment like the plane?

Yet when I took the trouble to take ALL my makeup off and go through my skincare routine I am rewarded by terrible breakouts at at time when I want to be my prettiest

So on the return leg from Cannes, on a suspicion, I did the unthinkable and left my makeup on for 16 hours straight. And guess what? My skin liked it better.

It really did, no new breakouts. The old cystic acne (cause by those wretched wipes on the flight TO Cannes) was happily clearing up and all around, it worked better for me.

Now I doubt any of you out there are as dense as I am, but just in case you think travel's breaking you out, I invite you to ask, really?

Maybe there's an evil little product backstabbing you. *drop kicks Simple's Cleansing Wipes into the dustbin*

Next trip I either leave everything on, or try bringing a small bottle of Bioderma Sensibio instead.

I don't break out after Simple, but I do notice that Simple's cleansing wipes are more 'stinging' to my face than others. Whenever I can, I use Nivea's.

Tried them once and gave the rest away - for some reason I can't find anything to like in the Simple range. The Biore Oil Cleansing Wipes on the other hand, are a godsend for my travels! :D

Simple doesn't break out but the wipes are heck abrasive on my skin. I usually have rashes all over afterwards. Am sticking to cleansing water and soft cotton pads, thank you.

i have bought it before, did not break out from it. but it does nothing to me, not the best for removing makeup either. i tried to finish the whole pack by using it for body wipes or whatever needed a wipe...

Glad to hear they're not stealthily ruining the complexions of anyone else! I am very very annoyed at them though - I could have been SO MUCH HOTTER in my travel pics. *sighs*

Aww anon, I'm sorry to hear that. Their products are not all bad but they're not silicone free and can contain emulsifiers too heavy for oily skin.
