Review: Clarins HydraQuench Cream-Mask for Dehydrated Skin

I am back! No, I haven’t left SoLoverly; things got pretty crazy after I started the last leg of my Masters so I took a bit of a break until my studies were done. Kahani and Syen have been terrific about it but I am now back and ready to pick up the burden. :P

I mentioned back in May that the Clarins HydraQuench Mask was part of my winter routine. My skin dries out like leather during cold months and my regular sheet masks (My Beauty Diary Aloe and Apple masks) simply aren’t up for the fight against winter. The Clarins HydraQuench serum helped a lot but I still needed something more to amp up the moisture levels for my skin.

Kahani had previously reviewed the Clarins HydraQuench Mask waaaay back in 2010 and her review sent me waffling around the block and back trying to decide if I should purchase it or not. My soft spot for Clarins (and a Strawberrynet discount) won out in the end.

A little goes a long way with this mask. Just smear on a light layer, lie back for 10 minutes, wipe it off with some toner or water on a cotton pad, and seal it in with some moisturiser. Some people prefer leaving it on for longer but I think that 10 minutes and a cup of tea is enough time, especially if you are busy with work. I use this every few days or whenever my skin looks dry as it helps to put some bounce back into my skin and make it look less tired. My skin also stays matte the next day, meaning that my skin has enough moisture to keep the oilies down.

Kahani was right when she said that this mask does little else but hydrate. But Clarins HydraQuench Mask does such a good job, you should definitely give this a go if moisture is high on your priority list. It is far from cheap and those with normal or oily skins would probably be better off getting something else cheaper. However, if you have insanely dry or dehydrated skin, don’t look any further. This is a mask worth spending your money on.

The Clarins HydraQuench Mask retails for AUD37 on Strawberrynet.com which is a steal compared to the Australian retail price of AUD62. I think the Malaysian price is somewhere around the RM150 mark.
