Review: Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Colour Trio in BR307 and GY901

Friday again! Whee!

For our Hindu friends who are celebrating Deepavali, here's wishing you a Happy Deepavali! For the rest of us in Malaysia, have a great day off.

And now, on to these two beautiful Shiseido Luminizing eyeshadow trios!

BR307 Strata

Inspired by a rock face in Chaco, New Mexico, Strata is a trio of earthy shades - a dark brown, a coffee brown and a shimmery beige. This would make for a great basic brown palette that can easily take you from a work-safe day look to a night look.

For this palette, I chose to go with a work look. Coffee brown as a wash, dark brown in the outer corners, and a touch of the beige for highlight. Tres simple.

GY901 Snow Shadow

With a name like Snow Shadow, I think you'll agree with me that this trio really channels winter. The shades in this trio are a navy blue, a cool grey, and a an off-white, and I find that I'm really liking this palette. Especially that middle cool grey shade.

Since I went with a safe number for the browns, I decided to add a little drama with the blues. I chose an evening look for this palette - cool grey from middle of the lid to the outer corners, off-white from middle to inner corners, and blend. And then I used the navy blue shade as a liner, applied with a wet brush.

And just for a little oomph, I did a teeny cat-eye. Believe me when I say I am not an eyeliner person, but I'm glad it was really easy to put this look together.

Pigment & Texture
As the norm for Japanese eyeshadows, the colours had a shimmery finish, and seemed a tad sheerer than say MAC or NYX, even if they did not seem as sheer some of other Japanese eyeshadows I've come across. Pigment wise, they stayed quite true to their shades when applied, and I could easily pick up the colours with my brushes. Nice.

Texture wise, they were all soft and smooth, except for the navy blue shade, which was a tad chalky when swatched. However, applying it as a liner (with a wet brush) was no problem at all.

Packaging & Price
Both come packed in slim black casing, simple and sleek, which suits me just fine. And of course, I love the huge mirror that comes with the palette. Each palette is priced at RM105. They are available at all Shiseido counters.

Conclusion
I've never tried Shiseido eyeshadows before, but so far I'm rather liking what I'm seeing, particularly Snow Shadow. These two are certainly worth checking out! Pass!

Have you tried these Shiseido trios before?

I still haven't tried any Shiseido makeup as I've always look into the brand as SKINCARE! thanks for sharing wonderful EOTD!

yup they're definitely not as sheer as the average asian eyeshadow. These two trios seem like the most "complete" ones that you can actually use on their own without looking odd...

Lovely colours on you, Syen - and I'm in love with the blues! And I agree with Connie, they seem the most "user-friendly". :)

Nikki: Interesting... I've never thought of their skincare, only makeup! LOL. You're most welcome!

Connie: Yeah, these two seemed the most complete trios indeed!

Yani: Thank you dear. The blues really are lovely!
