The Body Shop's Smoky Moonstone palette is quite perfect for the holidays.

It's been a long while since I've paid much attention to The Body Shop's cosmetic range. Until Kahani pointed out how pretty their cosmetics collection was for this year's holiday season.

So I looked. And looked again. And fell in love with the Smoky Moonstone palette.

Daily go-to: Maybelline Color 24HR Tattoo cream shadow in #35 On and On Bronze

I'm usually reluctant to review cream shadows until I've test-driven them awhile. I hate raving about a shadow only to find that a month later it's dried, cracked and unusable. Which is why I've waited THREE months to review this baby - so I can tell you it's still going strong.

Syen put me on to this one when she asked me to pick up up online for her as it's not available in Hong Kong or Malaysia yet (boo!). But if you get a chance to buy this from Australia or online from FeelUnique (like I did - free shipping to HK), grab it! It's only GBP4.99 on Feel Unique by the way.

I have this shadow in On-and-On-Bronze as well as Permanent Taupe and I definitely prefer "bronze". Don't let the names fool you though. Bronze is more Taupe (as you'll see in the swatch below) and Taupe is more dark grey. Annoying huh?

Also, Taupe is a matte shade and definitely resembles the hard to spread Mac Paint Pot in Painterly. It does make an awesome base though. But so does Bronze. More on that!

Taupe Madness: Loving the Stray Dog

This is due to the fact that I'm on a mad taupe hunt, having bought (and still buying) more taupes than I will ever need in two three lifetimes.

The moment I set my eyes on the Golden Savannah palette on the blogs, I knew it was already mine.

True to my bad habit, I've been petting and oohing and aahing over this gorgeous palette for daaays now. And finally got around to defiling it for blog's sake.

"I need to drop by Watsons," I informed the boyfriend the moment we set foot outside the hotel. 

"Anything else?" he asked, grinning. 

"No! Watsons! Need! Now!" 

Realising that this was not the time to tease, he guided me straight into the nearest Watsons. It was near People's Square in Shanghai. It was sheer and utter madness. The sales promoters were shouting about their respective brands like fishmongers. Swooping down on the most taupey palette I could find at the L'Oreal counter (it seemed like the most reliable drugstore brand) I was stopped from whisking it off to the counter by a determined sales girl. 

"??????!" she ordered me in mandarin. 

Inwardly cursing my banana-ness I made her explain to me, with gestures and halting English that I had to pay for the palette FIRST and then return to collect it. 

Flustered by the complete paranoia displayed by Watsons Shanghai, I asked her to write up a bill of sale for me while I tried to procure a Maybelline Mascara. No dice. Even the humble mascara required the entire song and dance. 

Clutching the order forms, I fought my way through the milling crowds to the counter, paid, and fought my way back to the cosmetic counters, by then, in a bit of a snit. 

Clutching my purchases I burst gratefully into the clear, cold outdoor air. 

When nightmares come true - surviving a trip without your makeup kit (Part 1)

It happened, it actually happened. While on the plane from Hong Kong to Shanghai for a week-long visit with my boyfriend I realised, with spin-chilling horror, that I had left my carefully packed makeup kit, the one with all my brushes, with my perfect Inglot palette, with my foundations, with my foundation sponge... all on the little table by my bed.

Damn these red-eye flights!

I took stock of the little makeup bag I had with me. Thank goodness I had my ZA 2-Way powder foundation and my trusty concealer (Time Balm - I really owe the poor thing a review) with me along with theBalm's blush in Down Boy. I'd intended to freshen up before stepping off the plane and my vanity was saving my skin (literally!) then and there. 

In a state of mild panic I thumbed frantically through the in-flight shopping guide. "Should I get a palette? No wait brushes... good brushes are hard to find in a drugstore."

Eagerly I looked for the Bobbi Brown travel brush kit I'd been eyeing for several flights now. Ah hah! Slim, wallet sized and silver it was pretty and looked practical. (It's also known as the Bobbi Brown Party Collection Mini Brush Set for Holiday 2011 judging by this post by the Muse). 

Taupe Madness: INGLOT Pearl #435

Hey lovelies,

Among the three of us here at So Loverly, I think I've developed quite a reputation of being taupe mad. (I've also developed a reputation for being mad about many other things *cough blush cough*, but you already knew that.)

Every time I look at eyeshadows, my eyes are inexplicably drawn to taupe and brownish shades. Can't be helped.

So today I'd like to introduce you to a shade I met while shopping with Kahani at INGLOT earlier this year - the Pearl #435.

About darn time.

After the whole world has gotten their hands on Urban Decay's Naked2, I finally get my hands on it. Sephora Malaysia was said to have launched it a while back in January, but as expected, it was pretty much immediately sold out.

So now after waiting foreeeever, it's finally back in stock.

Sometimes you come across things in life that you truly wonder how you ever did without before. Perhaps this borders on a slight exaggeration, but I feel pretty much that way about the Sephora Crayon 12-HR Wear Jumbo Liner in Taupe #04 .

It is awesome.

If you're one who's into cream shadows, chances are, you'd definitely heard of Make Up For Ever (MUFE)'s Aqua Creams. Their reputation within the beauty blogging world is, frankly, quite legendary.

And so when I decided to head the way of the cream shadows, of course I had to try these.

It seems to me that everytime I feel the need to review something with a bit of colour in it, Sleek MakeUP eyeshadow palettes are the first thing that cross my mind. And for pretty good reason too.

Of the many wonderful things Sleek MakeUP has to offer, the thing that really gets to me are their palettes. And today, we'll be looking at their Oh So Special palette.
