Desperate Me + Estee Lauder Haul ~

So I was a desperate woman. Very, very desperate.

I have no idea why, but of late (last couple of weeks), my skin has decided to dry out on me, in a most uncomfortable and unflattering manner. Day in, day out, I've been slapping on moisturiser after moisturiser, with the hope that my skin will retain something.

Nope. No such luck.

I tried everything. Clinique DDMG, ~H20+ Face Oasis, and even Cetaphil Moisturising Cream (HEAVY DUTY stuff), nothing was giving me any long-term relief. My skin would be okay while the moisturiser was on, but the moment I washed it off in the morning (with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, mind you), my skin was go back to being dry, taut, and flake like no tomorrow. My face felt like sandpaper.

And no, I couldn't scrub the flakes off. Because that made my skin drier. And because it was so hopeless dry (think Kalahari), my skin was also breaking out like no tomorrow.

I have never been better acquainted with the word des.pe.rate. And then a friend suggested I try Estee Lauder's legendary Advanced Night Repair (ANR).

Nevermind that a 50ml bottle cost RM290, I got myself to a counter and made a purchase. Actually, I paid RM20 more and got a set which included a 30ml Soft Clean Moisture Rich Foaming Cleanser, 15ml Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Cream with SPF15, and a 5ml Time Zone Anti-Line/Wrinkle eyecream.

I bought the Signature lipstick in Dune Rose separately for RM80. The shade is really pretty.

After just one application of the ANR, I can already feel a difference. My skin no longer feels taut, and my moisture levels are much better. But I'll be using for a while more before I get back to you with a more comprehensive review.

Have any of you tried the Advanced Night Repair? Yay or nay?

It didn't make much of difference for me, but I'm glad it's giving you relief. I know what you mean. Having to resort to Cetaphil's moisturizing cream for your face, your poor skin must have been parched! :(

Hope it goes back to normal soon :)

plue: Because my skin is usually oily and not dry, I don't have that many moisturising masks. Even though I slapped on a thick layer of Face Oasis (which works as a moisture mask too), didn't work.

And yes, worn the lippie already. Hehe.

Jenn: This stuff is goOooOOod. But I'm not sure if it'll get too rich for me. Review to come in good time. =P

xin: My mom used to use this stuff too. Now she's using Olay. Economy merosot. LOL.

Nikki: Thankee! I sure hope it does. =)

Tine: Oh yes. It was desperately parched. Can you believe I used the Cetaphil for my entire face? o.0 Crossing fingers now.

I only use ANR after exfoliation as it's too rich for my skin for daily use... It's really nice feeling after application and i really like the smell... It's really a steal that a top up of RM20 and you've got so many stuffs... I bought mine during MIdvalley Estee Lauder fair, no freebies no nothing..

hello..
I've actually bought 3 bottles of ANR (1 for me, 2 for mom).
It did stablelize my skin - lesser breakouts and nicely hydrated.

My last drop of ANR was some months ago.. and my skin stays ok. So not repurchasing for now :)

I find Paul & Joe's Treatment Oil works just as well.. cheaper price tag too :D

Sesame seed oil is what you should use. The kind used on food. Using commercial products filled with additional chemicals/preservatives will only make things worse or give superficial results... Spray water on your face (thermal spring or Evian or plain mineral water), put a drop or two of sesame oil on in the palm of one hand then rub your hands together and pat gently on your face before going to bed. And drink water. Lots of it. Our skin is a complex organ. If it's acting up, it's usually internal and no amount of topical solution will work.

Could it be a case of insufficient water intake?

I have been wondering about that for myself actually, as I am having drier skin these days too. Maybe it's the weather?

Syn: Oh dang. Boo on that. =(

Foxy: Hello! Wow. THREE bottles? You guys are hardcore man. LOL.

Anon: Hey there. Thanks very much for that very handy tip. If my skin ever dries out on me again, will definitely consider it. But as it's going back to my original skin condition, I'm worried it might be a little too rich for my skin.

My cousin also recommended oil, but rose hip oil. As for the water bit, you know, I think I came to the same conclusion just prior to writing this post. Been thinking hard, and realised I've not been drinking as much water as I used to lately. So now I'm also making it a point to guzzle water down.

Anyway, thanks again for the advice! =)

April: Could jolly well be. Listen to our own advice. Drink more water. LOL.

wow!! so many products to your collection! =)

I have heard good reviews about the Advanced Repair range but its too pricey. Do update us more regarding this range ok?

I have very VERY dry and sensitive skin too, so now I am using Vitamin E oil on my face, the oil helps to hydrate and reduces lines. =)

Definitely YAY. It's my HG serum at night and I also have the eye cream for it. I've just finished my first 75ml bottle and I bought a 100ml bottle from KLIA the last time.
