Monday's Beauty Chat: Have you got a fetish?

Hello ladies!

How's your Monday looking?

Apologies, but I'm kinda out of Bits to share today. So I thought it'd be great if we had a chat instead. Mondays are all about beauty lites anyway on So Loverly.

So the question I have for you today is - Do you go through periods of fetishes?

Err.. didn't get it? No, no, nothing naughty here. Let me explain.

The Mega Melon

Yup.

After I got my Super Strawberry, I went for it and got me a Mega Melon too.

And if first impressions are anything to go by, I am absolutely loving it!

Review & Application: Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation

It's finally happened. Much to my dismay, the latest version of Revlon Colorstay has too much silicone for my skin to take and it broke me out. In despair I turned to the net to find a dimethicone-free foundation and the only viable result made me despair more.

I mean come ON. Laura Mercier's Oil Free Foundation costs RM169.

But after a tester not only did not break me out but helped my skin clear up, I bit the bullet and bought the bottle despite the fact that the stuff is damned near IMPOSSIBLE to apply.

Finally: Estee Lauder's Pure White Linen

Excuse the lack of a picture. My camera cable is still sulking and hiding after my long holiday and refuses to come out of the depths of my bag

I finally got it! I have been hankering after Estee Lauder's Pure White Linen since my first whiff years ago but to indecision, constant moving and lack of opportunity, I never got around to it.

Until now, that is.

My Sweet Lips ~

Ooh la la.

I'm not really talking about my sweet lips. More like LUSH's Sweet Lips - a yummilicious vanilla and chocolate sugar lip scrub.

And friends, it smells divine!

Monday's Beauty Bit: Beauty Shopping in New Zealand

Hello lovelies!

Am back from a glorious vacation on New Zealand. Words cannot begin to say just how much I needed that holiday. Truth to tell I'm still in no mood to work so this is going to be a wee bitty lazy post. Forgive me! =P

Anyway, about beauty shopping in New Zealand, in a nut shell I'm going to have to say, just don't. Really. Prices there are insane, for example a tube of MAC lipstick is NZ$40!! That's almost DOUBLE the price here! And The Body Shop's wares are dollar for dollar which means, they are MORE than double the price they go for  here.

Apologies!

Hey lovelies,

Had planned to do a post for today, but right now I'm feeling under the weather. Drat.

Hope you have a good weekend, and hope whatever it is I'm having doesn't last too long. You can cheer me up by telling me if you've hauled anything of late though. And tell me what you hauled!

That would be just sweet.

Cheerios~

Review: Nature's Gate Organics C for Yourself Vitamin C Serum

A new-found love, I found this gem of a product in my local organic shop not long after bewailing the failure of TBS Skin Boost to work for my skin under Malaysian weather conditions.

"Tell me if it works," the shop owner told me as she rang up my sale. "I only brought it in 5 bottles so some feedback would be nice."

I popped by her shop a few weeks later. "It works," I said with a smile, "you had better bring in more."

Quick Peek: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine

Following in the footsteps of the very successful Rouge Coco lipsticks, Chanel will be releasing its Rouge Coco Shines range of lipsticks this coming April.

And this range is something I'm looking very much forward to.

Food for Thought: So Many Products, So Little Time

Pic was yanked off Google Images
I don't know about you but I get completely overwhelmed each time I walk into a Watsons' or Guardian these days. So many products! Which one should I try? Which one actually works? Alamak, why so expensive?! Eh, new Japanese product but why the writing all in Japanese punya wan? For face or for neck, I have no idea.

With all these thoughts running through my head, I usually end up looking around for the most familiar brand (hello, Nivea, Olay and Eucerin) and hug it like a security blanket as I high-tail out of there.

There is an economic theory or name for this particular phenomena where the consumer is so overwhelmed by choice, they just go with the product most familiar to them. It may not be the best product but it's the most comforting.

Am I the only one who gets beauty claustrophobic or do you readers feel otherwise?

Comment and share!

The Super Strawberry

Friday! *woot*

Okay, now on to business. As you would have seen here, Clinique's Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm is a lipstick I acquired about two weeks ago, and today I'd like to tell you more about it.

So far, I'm really reeeally loving it. No kidding.

What's in My Makeup Bag (Work Travel Version)

I am constantly on the go for work. One minute I am crawling through the jungle, the next minute I am chit-chatting to VIPs. It's hard to predict what I'll need on the go.
After much trials, I have finally decided on this array of cosmetics. Nothing too expensive -- so you won't find me crying over a case of broken powder -- but everything WORKS for day to night.
1. Bobbi Brown Lips and Cheeks to Go
2. ZA 2-way powder foundation in no. 24
3. Silky Girl lipgloss in Cranberry
4. Almay dual eyepencil in... I forget what shade. But one end is an eyeliner while the other can be run along the lower eye as a brightener. I usually smudge out the dark brown shade for night and it stays with the help of...
5. Benefit cream eyeshadow in Carte Blanche. Great neutral.
6. Stage Angel Lash Mascara. My new favourite! Have stockpiled for the next few months.

A day in doggie-sitting...

While Kahani has gone searching for her Aragorn in Middle-Earth, I volunteered to do a little doggie-sitting.

So I toted my beloved DSLR along and snapped shots of them while I was at it.

I'm quite sure Kahani doesn't mind me flaunting her precious babies, no? *winks*

More photos for your viewing pleasure after the jump!

Bella Bamba Rocks!

Hello lovelies!

I'm back from my Chinese New Year break, and I had a great time catching up with the relatives and playing with the adorable nieces.

And I'm also all set to tell you how much I love Bella Bamba. *tee hee*

Over the CNY break, I brought Bella Bamba along with me when I went out of town to give it a good test drive. And I was pleased indeed.

A shot of Vitamin C: Derm10 Vitamin C Complex

Just about the time Eli's sister was threatening to slather her skin with lemon juice to give it a jolt of Vitamin C, I was contacted by Derm10 to review some of their products. I've never heard of this skincare line before, they claim to be from the US, Malaysia & Singapore but I had my doubts. My skin's never been the easiest to please, but with some back and forth emails I found the lady who contacted me to be very forthcoming, friendly and professional. She helped me identify silicone free formulations that would be great for my skin. So after awhile I decided to try this Vitamin C Complex serum and their Comodone Complex (I haven't started using this yet as I only test one product at a time). After a month of using the Vitamin C serum, I have to say I'm impressed!
