INGLOT: The 4-pan is a travel wonder!

It's Malaysia's 55th Independence Day, and I hope you guys are enjoying the day off. And since you're here, I'd like to share a review with you lovelies + a little question.

Meet my INGLOT 4-pan eyeshadow, which I had purchased some weeks back.

The moment I set my eyes on the Golden Savannah palette on the blogs, I knew it was already mine.

True to my bad habit, I've been petting and oohing and aahing over this gorgeous palette for daaays now. And finally got around to defiling it for blog's sake.

Naked 2. Mine. Finally.

About darn time.

After the whole world has gotten their hands on Urban Decay's Naked2, I finally get my hands on it. Sephora Malaysia was said to have launched it a while back in January, but as expected, it was pretty much immediately sold out.

So now after waiting foreeeever, it's finally back in stock.

Review: A palette that's Oh So Special!

It seems to me that everytime I feel the need to review something with a bit of colour in it, Sleek MakeUP eyeshadow palettes are the first thing that cross my mind. And for pretty good reason too.

Of the many wonderful things Sleek MakeUP has to offer, the thing that really gets to me are their palettes. And today, we'll be looking at their Oh So Special palette.

1. MAC Semi-Precious Collection


The MSFs above, and the mineral eyeshadows are looking gooood. I haven't been quite this crazy over a MAC collection for a while.

The Sleek Storm palette is Divine. Truly.

It seems that we've been a little short on colour on this blog of late. But that'll be fixed today.

Monday's Beauty Bit

I didn't get much sleep Saturday night and Sunday's been incredibly busy, so I'm afraid today's post is going to be a wee bit on the lazy side. Meet my lucky score from the Estee Lauder Staff Sale - The Antigua Face Palette by Bobbi Brown. Acquired thanks to a dear friend who picked it up for me at half price (RM90).

I have an upcoming work trip to Osaka and plan to test this baby out as my travel palette! Will review it after the trip. ;)

My Bobbi Brown Custom Palette

You know I have a weakness for palettes and am eternally chasing "that perfect one". The perfect palette is one that can take me from day to night and will be all I need for a weekend getaway (maybe even longer!). It doesn't have to contain lip products, but blush and eyeshadows are a must. So when Bobbi Brown announced her custom palettes way way back, you can bet I went weak at the knees.

Once I learnt the prices for the palette (RM40) and for each individual eyeshadow (RM75) and blush (RM85) that weakness got even worse. Argh!

But I didn't go crazy and buy it all at once. Nope.... I got the palette at a discount, and all the shades in it are gifts slowly accumulated!

Syen started me out with the Lavender metallic eyeshadow and for my recent birthday she bought me the shimmer shadow in Champagne (which by the way is a PERFECT highlight shade).

The brown eyeshadow in Mahogany and the blush in Nectar are from gift vouchers for last Christmas and this birthday from a guy friend (I kid you not). Bless him. =D

Mahogany is really pretty but I honestly expected it to have more depth. It never seems to get quite dark enough for that perfect eyeliner / outer corner shade, but its great as a casual lid colour. I would add one more dark brown or black eyeshadow to my beauty bag for night and liner use.

Nectar, as you can see on Syen's post, is lovely. Loverly even . I find it to be a warmer, more pigmented version of Cargo's Blu Ray blush and so actually works well with both cool, warm and even glammed out looks like smokey eyes or red lips. I still find myself missing a bright cheerful pink blush that makes you look fresh and awake though. The look from this palette is really fresh and natural though.

So now readers I put the question to you. Pretty as the lavender shade of shadow is it's not quite in keeping with the palette's versatility. Should I therefore get myself a darker brown / black eyeshadow like Espresso or Smoke or a pink blush like Peony, Soft Pink or Pink Sugar?

Which should it be? And what shade do you vote for?

Review: Benefit 10 Bronzer & Highlighter Palette

I managed to score this cute little palette for about RM50 - the price seems to have gone up now. Boo! I'll admit that as I do already have the 10 Box-O-Powder and the Dragonfly Stila Duo, if the palette hadn't been so goshdarned cute and cheap I wouldn't have been tempted to buy it.

It arrived just in time for my recent weekend trip to Singapore and with just one extra dark shade of brown shadow I made it do for my entire trip. Best way to test out the usefulness of a palette and this one held up pretty well actually.

Subtle and natural, that's the look this palette gives. None of the shades are strong and all are glowy (not quite shimmery). The shadows are enough to emphasise the eyes and the bronzer/highlighter makes a gentle glowy blush when blended. And of course contouring always rocks.

The glosses are actually quite pigmented and there are cool and warm shades - both of which work great with the palette.

For night I shaded on a darker eyeshadow, popped on red lipstick and was ready to paint the town red. Which I did. Much to my poor head's dismay the next day!

Conclusion
It's a neat little palette, well-made with solid cardboard, a mirror, and strong magnetic closures. While I wouldn't pay full price for it, at RM50 it's well worth it for toting along on trips where you mostly want a low-fuss, easy day look.

My daily delight: The Balm Shady Lady Eyeshadow Palette

Meet the one palette that has successfully quenched all longings for any other palette. No, I'm not kidding! With nine superbly useable, long lasting, pigmented shades in a creamy powder formula that resembles Shu Uemura, it's hard to want anything else!

Palette
Ok I'm not a fan of the hoochie leopard print with the sillhouette - but the slim sturdy design witha lovely large mirror can't be faulted.

Shades
With 3 liner shades (matte), 2 highlighter (shimmer), and 4 mid-tone crease shades (satin) this pallete is wonderfully thought out! From sweet and pretty to daily glow to dark and smokey this palette makes it all possible. So far I've created a warm natural day look, a sweet and sexy purple and dark blue, a fresh green and gold, a smokey silver and blue... The combinations are endless!

Formula
As mentioned the creamy smooth blendabiity of these shadows rivals Shu Uemura. So easy is it to blend together that I have started using 4 even 5 shades on my eyes on somedays. It brings out the latent artist in me. ;)

Over a primer the shadows last all day with slight fading of the shimmer. One gripe I have is the liner shades on my lower lids does smudge somewhat on my oily skin throughout the day. Easy enough to clean up, but I'd rather it lasted like Bobbi Brown's Espresso eyeshadow. Maybe it's the trade in for blendability because even the liner shade is wonderfully easy to blend in to deepen and shadow.

Conclusion
I can't be happier with this palette - a great buy for RM120. My only worry is Luscious Lani, the most perfect shade of warm highlight pink, is running out faster than the rest. I may have to get the mono!

Rave: Beautilicious Victoria Palette - love at first sight!

From the moment I laid eyes on the pretty pink, and brown stripey palette, cooed over its adorable pink handbag charm and gasped at the pretty colours inside, it was obvious to all (Paris B, Pink Elle & Beetrice) I was completely smitten. If the wonderful Julie of Beautilicious had not given me this palette to review, I would have walked straight into Watsons, plonked down RM49.90 and bought one! My lips are also sporting Beautilicious' Glossy Jam in Pureberry Jam (RM25.90) layered over Benetint. But that's another review!

Packaging
As you can see the packaging really is something special. Reminiscent of Stila Palettes, it's very solidly made of cardboard and has magnetic closures. The design has the loveliest ornate look - redolent of old fashioned victorian sweet shops.

The pink and gold handbag charm is just ducky, and the Instructions printed on the inside ensure that you won't have to go looking for that piece of paper you just KNEW you had with you somewhere...

Eyeshadows

The three eyeshadow shades in a dark brown, shimmering copper, and shimmering beige complement each other perfectly. The dark brown is flecked with gold shimmer and looks a lot warmer in the pan than it is going on. I was a little worried and disappointed when I saw how cool and almost greyish it was.

Then I swept on the rusty copper adn got worried that it would be TOO red and rusty. But guess what? Layered over the cooler dark brown and blended they balance out and suit each other so well! The beige is a lovely highlight wash in the inner corner of the eyes and under the brow bone.

The copper and dark brown eyeshadows are very pigmented, and in fact when I tried to layer the dark brown over the copper I experienced fall out throughout the day. Some particles even got into my eyes and I could feel it. However, I found that packing the dark brown straight onto my MAC paint pot (primer) held the brown shadow in place all day. And I could then wash the copper shimmer over it. So, this way works better girls! With the primer, the shadows lasted easily all day with little fading and no creasing.

Also on my eyes: Coastal Scents Gel Liner in Blackest Black, and Stage Standing Ovation Mascara.

Blush
The blush may appear small but ladies it packs a punch! I underestimated it the first time and swiped it like I do any drugstore blush. Fortunately I tested it on my wrist before slapping it on my face. Whoa mama, is this baby pigmented! So remember ladies, the merest touch of the blush brush to this will do you fine!

I'm wearing it in the above vanity shot, and as you can see it imparts a lovely apricot glow that coordinates beautifully with the shadows. The blush shade looks in the pan like punched up version of Bobbi Brown's Nectar, and it goes on quite similarly. If I had to compare, I'd say that Victoria's blush is a more intense, brighter version of Nectar.

Verdict
There are few palettes that I believe I can survive an entire trip with, and this is one of them. From day time glow to night time glamour I believe this gorgeous 'lil thing will more than do the trick. In fact, the colours in this palette are eerily close to my "dream" Bobbi Brown customised palette.

Now, the only problem is to figure out how to stop using it so I can try out its sister - Alyssa (right)!

ps. Maybe ParisB will beat me to it. As I was reaching for Victoria, she was cooing over Alyssa!

I Spied Bobbi's Brights Eye Palette!

Ladies, will you check this out! Bobbi Brown is finally giving us colour! Browsing through the Bobbi Brown site, I stumbled upon this 35-soft-matte-shadow palette and for a moment I had to check to make sure I wasn't in the Coastal Scents website instead.

But true enough, it was Bobbi alright.

Isn't it such a lovely palette? And what a refreshing change to the usual Bobbi offerings.

Because She Loves Me!

So Kahani is BACK!!! =)

And with her, came much of Boots as well. Being the darling that she was, she willingly lugged back some Boots orders, and threw in a couple of stuff to boot. =P

The goodies I got all the way from London, (and Champs-Élysées, mind you), included:

• No7 Summer Palette - isn't it sooo pretty??
• Soap & Glory's Flirtigo - she's gotten me a bottle to share the flirty-ness!
• Three pocket-size tubs of Vaseline (!!!) in Original, SPF15 and Aloe Vera - thank you girl!
• Two tubes of Yves Rocher Les Plaisirs Nature in Vanilla and Coconut - these babies comes all the way from Champs-Élysées, ok? *gloats*
• One tube of John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette Moisturising Conditioner (Choc to Espresso) - because I need to stock up. Won't know what to do when I run out *shivers*. I am THAT in love with this condi.

I haven't played with it, but the pastel colours look very pretty and wearable. I think I'll keep and stroke it a little while more before diving in. I mean, look at the patterns on the pans!

Also, I'm really swimming in lipbalms right now. It's madness. But happy madness.

Review: Too Faced New Romantic Unicorn Palette

Believe it or not, this palette is even prettier in person! The unicorn on the front is raised on a background of velvet paisley making it almost as delcious to touch as it is to look at. I confess, I bought it more for its looks than its contents - but they don't disappoint. Inside, you'll find three eyeshadows, three lipglosses, a blush/highlighter, and a dual-ended brush for eyes and lips.

Eyeshadows
These are the best part of the palette. Of the three - frosty khaki, brown and beige - frosty khaki is by far the prettiest. It applies far more brown that it appears in the pan with lovely glints of green and gold. The shimmering brown provided goes perfectly with it as a crease colour or eyeliner, and the beige makes a handy base. The shadows are soft, finely milled with decent (though not great) colour pay-off. They are a bit crumbly for my taste, if you're not careful they can go everywhere, but they are worth the effort. Don't let the neutral earth-colours fool you, this combination makes for really special eyes - I can see them bringing out the green in hazel eyes. Don't bother with the sponge applicator unless you're desperate though, use your own brushes!

Lipglosses
The three lipglosses are fairly unique in that there's a frosty plum-wine shade, a mid-neutral peach and a pale frosty pink. So while all three may not suit you, one at least will. All three are very shimmery (frosty in the case of the pink) and are lightly vanilla scented. They apply very sheerly with the plum having the strongest colour pay-off. It is by far my favourite shade in the palette with its shimmering gold particles. although it's a little dramatic for day-wear. The peach is very sheer and is a lovely topping gloss for lipsticks. The pink washes me out but is useful for tuning down too-bright lippies. The lip-end of the brush provided is lovely to use.

Blush/Highlighter
I was rather disappointed in the blush as it barely, just barely shows up on my cheeks at all - and I'm fair - light. Unless you've got a porcelaine complexion ala Ditta Von Teese, this is going to be more of a highlighter than a blush for you. It appears a lovely dusky pink in the pan but goes on very sheerly. Still, it can be used for days when you want to pay more attention to your eyes and lips.

The palette's RRP is £20 but you can buy it for only £7.99 here, making it a very nice buy indeed.
